Man attempts to jump from hotel - The Borneo Post Online Posted: 28 Oct 2014 10:20 AM PDT by Elton Gomes. Posted on October 29, 2014, Wednesday KOTA KINABALU: A man attempted to commit suicide by jumping from a 12-floor hotel here yesterday. The 24-year-old local was said to have been standing at the hotel's veranda since 6.30pm attempting to jump from the building. It was learnt that the man had earlier called his cousin informing his location and his suicide intention. Fearing for his uncle's safety, the cousin immediately informed the hotel management who then called the police to the scene. Deputy city police chief Superintendent Mohd Azhar Hamin, who was at the scene, said police and the Fire and Rescue Services personnel managed to persuade the man to come back into the hotel room around 8.50pm. "The man is in good health but we have detained him for further investigation," he said, adding that police were still investigating the motive of the man. The case would be investigated under Section 309 of the Penal code for attempt to commit suicide.
