MIRI: To usher the upcoming month of Ramadan, the employees of Grand Palace Hotel has organised  'Dodol Making' on gotong-royong basis at the hotel's parking space.

Its Resident Manager, Vincent James Nonis said the event was first of its kind organised by the hotel in conjunction with the upcoming month of Ramadan.

"It is about 10 days away from the fasting month and we decided to get the momentum going to get into the spirit of the Ramadan.

"Thus, we are pleased to organise something special such as 'Dodol Making' to create the Ramadan atmosphere," he stated when met at the hotel yesterday.

He said the dodol would then to be shared among the staff and the hotel guests for the Breaking of Fast later.

Meanwhile, dodol is a sweet confection and a traditional delicacy among the Malay.

Made with coconut milk, palm sugar and rice flour it is commonly served during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

It normally takes up to 9 hours to cook and is available in various flavours such as durian, red bean, green bean and potatoes.

Also present was the hotel's Business Development Manager Mary Choo.
